Gao Laoban (高老板) is operated by Daan de Groot, a sole trader (eenmanszaak) established in the Netherlands. Using the service means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
You need an account to use the service. You must give an accurate email address, keep your credentials to yourself, and you are responsible for what happens under your account. You must be at least 16 years old.
One account is for one person. Do not share it, resell access to it, or use it to build a competing dataset.
The service has a free plan and a paid plan, Pro.
Pro is a recurring subscription. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel, and it is billed by Stripe. Prices include VAT where applicable.
We may change the price of a plan. If we do, we will tell you by email before it takes effect, and the change will only apply from your next billing period.
You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation stops the next renewal; your Pro access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Because this is a digital service supplied immediately, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under EU consumer law, which you waive by starting to use the paid features within that period. If you subscribe and do not use any Pro feature, email us within 14 days and we will refund you in full.
Outside of that, payments are non-refundable except where we are required by law to refund them, or where the service was materially unavailable.
Flashcards, notes, chat messages and anything else you put into the service remain yours. You grant us only the licence needed to store, process and display that content back to you, and to send it to the processors listed in our Privacy Policy so that the feature you asked for can run.
Do not upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to submit.
Translations, corrections, example sentences, exercises and conversation replies are produced by language models. They are frequently useful and occasionally wrong. Do not rely on them for anything consequential — including exam preparation, professional translation, or legal, medical or financial matters — without checking them independently.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms. Where the breach is not serious we will warn you first.
The service is provided as-is. We do not promise a specific uptime, and we may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give you at least 30 days' notice and a way to export your data, and we will refund the unused portion of any subscription.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death, personal injury, intent or gross negligence, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EU, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country, and you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will notify you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and continuing to use the service after that means you accept it.
